History

The Hollywood High School Band has been in existence for many years. There are records of the band dating as far back as 1914. Over the years, the band has been called by many names: ROTC Band, Crimson Corp, Sheik Band, and many more.

Due to the geographical location of Hollywood High School, the band has been lucky enough to perform at various venues and for numerous celebrities. The band has had small appearances in several television shows, such as Crook and Chase, Wings, and most recently Malcolm in the Middle. Some celebrities the band has performed for are Jay Leno, Rodney Dangerfield, Bob Saget, Famous Amos, and Jack Black (just to name a few).

One of our traditions is to perform at the world famous Hollywood Christmas Parade and Hollywood Bowl every year.

We also have some great leaders. We have had a couple of our drum majors represent us as All-City Drum Majors for the Los Angeles Unified All District Honor Band at the Tournament of Roses Parade.

The band also has an annual scholarship award that is given to two senior band members. This award is in memory of Boss Radio Legend, "The Reel Don Steel” and is possible thanks to donations from his family, friends, and supporters.
